My January motivation is at an all-time high. You know that feeling when you drink ten cups of coffee instead of one? Yeah, that one.
I've been moving fast since day one. Ideas flying left and right. I’ve concluded on 19,302 decisions. I’ve completed 239,092 todos. And I’ve drunk 92,392 coffee cups. Safe to say, I’ve done a lot in January, and it’s not even halfway yet.
But I know I’m not alone…
Everyone seems to have this supernatural power in January.
Some people are resigning from jobs because… YOLO.
Others are starting new businesses because… YODO.
And the gym? Fully packed… because six packs must come this year.
All I’m saying is… We all tend to do more, move faster, and fly higher in January, which is why the month seems like it has 192 days. If we all maintained this pace throughout the year, we'd probably be on Mars by December. Love to see it.
But I know this energy is temporary…
I call it the January sugar rush, a.k.a. January motivation.
For most of us, it likely won’t last longer than the first half of January. But naturally motivated individuals can manage to maintain the pace until the end of January.
After that, it’ll die down gradually, a slow death, like your secondary school WhatsApp group chat. It’s not weird; it’s just human.
But here's the thing…
I'm milking this motivation like my life depends on it. Because? By the time the withdrawal symptoms kick in and reality slaps me back to default settings, I would have already started all the things I was scared to do.
The beauty of it? Starting is always the hardest part. So, by the time this motivation packs its bags, the ball will already be rolling, at least.
And if anyone asks me in February why I'm not as active as I was in January, I'll just smile and say, "New year, new me - was a January exclusive offer; the discount code has expired”.
